Foreign Trade has been the key to Hong Kong's successful economy. Hong Kong has rapidly ascended into the front ranks of East Asia's newly industrialized countries. One of Hong Kong's greatest resources is its magnificent harbor. It supp;ies a port through which China can trade with countries with which it has no diplomatic relations, including Taiwan,South Korea, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia. Hong kong is a major center for U.S. trade, and contact with China and the rest of Asia. More than 800 U.S. corporations, with investments of about $6 billion, are located in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is also a transportation and communications hub for Asia.
